Get Jilted Lovers and Broken Hearts Some Airplay

Jilted Lovers and Broken Hearts was released to radio stations across Europe this week.  This song deserves to do well for Brandon, it's a brilliant song with potetial to be a hit, but it won't be unless it gets some airtime. As the record company clearly aren't putting any more money or effort in to promotion then I think we should.

Here's what you can do.

1. Radio Stations - if your local radio station takes requests, ring them, email them, tweet at them, facebook them, stand outside their office with placcards, whatever it takes to get them to play Jilted.

2. Radio 1. - Radio One has a request show on Saturday evenings.  You can request songs in advance online, or by twitter and facebook. All the links are here. Do all three. Let's get it played on Radio 1.

3. Tell your friends about Jilted. We have three lovely banners designed by our competition winners. Use them. Put them in your signiture on forums, post them on facebook, twitter, print them out and stick them to your work or school notice board. Get the message out.

Brandon Playing Kent Festival

Brandon Flowers has also been anounced for the Hop Farm Music Festival in Kent.  The festival takes place on the 1st and 2nd July. More details can be found at their website Tickets are on sale now.

Can we maybe expect a few more dates between this and T in the Park.

Thank you to everyone who entered out Jilted Competition. There were tough and difficult choices to be made but we made them the winning entries are below.

And here comes the next part of our cunning plan. Jilted Lovers and Broken Hearts will be released to radio stations next week, and we need to spread the word. Use these banners to promote Jilted and encourage people to buy it. Put your favourite one on your facebook profile, tag your friends, twit pic them, use them in your signature on forums, print them out and stick them to your notice board at school and work. Don't forget to provide links to iTunes/Amazon etc.

If your local radio station has a request show, contact them and ask them to play it.  We have a plan to try and get it played on the Radio One Request Show for next week, so stay tuned for details on that.

More Brandon Shows Announced

After a few rumours, some new dates have appeared on The Killers Official website for shows in Mexico, California and Las Vegas.  It doesn't specify on the site whether these are Brandon only dates, or The Killers dates, however, as they centre around Brandon's Coachella date, we believe the dates are Brandon only. The dates are:

10 April - Teatro Estudio Cavaret, Zapopan Mexico
11 April - Vive Cuervo Salon, Mexico City, Mexico
14 April - House of Blues, San Diego, California
16 April - House of Blues, Las Vegas, Nevada

The dates don't appear on any of the official websites for the venues as yet and tickets don't appear to be on sale. More news as we hear it.

Competition Time!

****CLOSING DATE EXTENDED TO 13TH FEBRUARY***

The third single from Flamingo will be Jilted Lovers and Broken hearts, which is being given a limited radio release in several countries in February 2011.

If it's anything like Only The Young, there will be little promotion and it will fizzle out with a small pop. We believe Jilted is one of the best songs on Flamingo and it, and Brandon, deserve some recognition. It would seem that if we want this record promoted, we will have to do it ourselves.

So, here's the competition:

Design a banner, icon or poster to promote Jilted Lovers and Broken Hearts. It can be a .jpg, .gif, .png file and so long as it is relevent (and clean) it can be anything you want.

The best pieces will be displayed on the website for people to use on Twitter, Facebook, forums, websites and blogs, school/college/work notice board or pin to their forehead.

We will pick the three best entries who will win prizes as follows:

First prize: your choice of either a Dave or Mark charity wristband and a Concert Weirdos wristband
Second prize: either a Dave or Mark charity wristband (whichever the first prize winner didn't want)
Third prize: a Concert Weirdos wristband.

Closing date is 31 January 2011
All artwork should be emailed to cidergirli@gmail.com headed Jilted Competition
The competition will be judged by Cidergirli and Bluecandy5 and our decision will be final.

Good luck!

Brandon Featured in Charity Book

Brandon Flowers is amongst a host of musicians photographed with their favourite food or drink for the charity book, Love Music, Love Food. Proceeds from the book, which is out this year, will go to the Teenage Cancer Trust which focuses on the needs of teenagers and young adults with cancer and related illness, providing specialist care and equipment for NHS hospitals.

Brandon is apparently photographed with a Mexican meal. Other artists involved include Paul Weller and Noel Gallagher.

Duffy Loves Brandon Flowers

In a recent interview with The Herald Sun, Duffy sang Brandon Flowers' praises like the best Victim among us. Asked what gigs she had seen, she responded:

OK. This is in order: The Strokes, Guns 'N Roses, Coldplay and the Killers.
Oh and Al Green and Candi Staton.
The most impressive was the Killers. Brandon Flowers is a showman like I've never, ever experienced.
He was like a young Michael Jackson.
He had this star quality. He has this Frank Sinatra elegance.
I never once wondered what he'd had for lunch or what his mum was called or if he was sweaty or tired.
I didn't think of him as a human, pardon the pun. I wanted that. We're in a recession across the globe.
People need something bright and light and fun in their life.

Couldn't agree more, welcome to the Victims, Duffy.

Jilted Lovers and Broken Hearts to be the Next Single

Edited to Update:  As confirmed by Hermia on Sweet Talk, Jilted will be released to radio stations in limited countries, it will not be getting a hard copy release, and I'm presuming that means that, like Only The Young, it won't be available to buy separately as a download single either.

This is really disappointing, as this single could do really well, and I would love to see the video.

************************************************************************************

Greece's Radio1 station (not to be confused with the fabulous BBC Radio 1), has Jilted Lovers and Broken Hearts listed for release as the third single from Flamingo on 21st February 2011.

If this is correct (and I see no reason for it not to be), I think this song could do really, really well for Brandon, especially in the UK. It just needs a little push and promotion from the record companies and an actual release separate from the album version. I just hope it doesn't get the poor treatment that Only The Young got (which I'm still very angry about, if you hadn't noticed).
